A Day in the Life of a Beekeeper

Join us with “The Bee Lady” of Outer Cape Honeybees for a fascinating look inside the life of a honeybee colony.

Discover the remarkable world of honeybees and the vital roles played by worker bees, nurse bees, foragers, drones, and the queen—the heart of the hive. Get an up-close look at a live observation hive and meet the colony’s matriarch, the beloved Queen Bee.

Learn how bees develop from egg to larva, pupa, and adult, and see how the queen can lay more than 1,000 eggs a day. Explore the intricate hexagonal comb where bees store pollen and nectar, and watch how honeybees communicate through their famous waggle and circle dances.

You’ll also have the opportunity to taste fresh honey straight from the hive and take home a wealth of fascinating bee facts. Did you know that producing just one pound of honey requires bees to visit up to two million flowers and fly more than 55,000 miles?

This engaging presentation will also explore the critical role honeybees play in our ecosystem and offer practical ways we can all help protect pollinators and become better stewards of the environment.

A fun, educational, and interactive experience for all ages!
