Edith Lake Wilkinson was an artist who lived and painted in Provincetown during the early decades of the 20th century until she was committed to an asylum for the mentally ill in 1924. Her belongings were packed up in a trunk which was sent to relatives in West Virginia. It was not until the 1960’s that her art was discovered. “Packed in a Trunk” chronicles how Jane Andersen, a relative of Edith, worked to establish Edith’s art in the public view. It took many years, but Edith finally had an exhibit of her art at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum in July 2022.
Please note that the film will run 1 hour and 17 minutes. There will be a short intermission.
