She’ll discuss how the fund provides vital financial assistance and why this work matters now more than ever. \nAnn is a RN and has her master’s degree in counseling psychology. Her experience in the nursing field includes patient advocate\, home health nurse\, hospice nurse\, and Director of the Admission and Referral Department for Hope Hospice. She has spent her career as an advocate for marginalized and disenfranchised communities. DESCRIPTION:Cape Codders witnessed and embraced many changes during the early 1900’s. With the railroad\, came thousands of “summer colonists” to boost a failing fishing-based economy. Along came the telephone and then electricity. Marconi came to Cape Cod and installed a “thunder factory” in Wellfleet that made more noise on dry dark nights than a horror movie. Motor cars drove alongside horse and wagon on the sandy roads. Come see a slide show of real Cape Codders and their visitors as they\, along with the rest of the world\, adapted to the big changes of a new century. \nIrene M. Paine has a family tree that rooted on Cape Cod in the 1620’s. She writes prose\, poems\, and historical fiction\, with details garnered from the hundreds of family photos dating back to the early days of photography. Originally from Paine Hollow in South Wellfleet\, she lives in Yarmouth with her husband Jim Wolf\, and three canine companions. \nLearn more at 10 a.m. on Sunday\, May 17\, 2026. SUMMARY:Native Plants for Your Outer Cape Garden and the Pollinator Pathway
DESCRIPTION:Join us as Paul Greenspan of the Master Gardener’s Association of Cape Cod discusses the importance of native plants and the Cape Cod pollinator pathway. Paul will talk about the Atlantic Coastal Pine Barrens Ecoregion\, keystone species\, and his personal journey caring for 1/3 of an acre of sunny and dry Wellfleet carver sandy soil. Paul’s wide ranging presentation will cover a wealth of subjects\, so come and learn about them all.  \nEstablished in 1993\, the Master Gardener Association of Cape Cod (MGACC) is a collaborative effort between trained community volunteers and Cape Cod Cooperative staff.  Its mission is helping others learn to grow\, with a focus on providing the Cape Cod community with research-based horticultural information on sustainable plants\, gardens and landscapes through volunteer efforts and in collaboration with the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension. \nPaul lives in Wellfleet where he spends his time gardening\, organizing musical events and messing around in his sailboat or out on the oyster flats. SUMMARY:Peculiar and Superior with Dennis Minsky
DESCRIPTION:Join us as Dennis Minsky reads from his book\, Peculiar and Superior\, reflections of a year-rounder on the human and natural history of the Outer Cape.  In this collection of essays\, which first appeared in his column “The Year-Rounder” in the Provincetown Independent\, Minsky tells stories of the people\, the place and his experience living in a small town on the coast of Massachusetts. From the mundane to the magical\, he captures moments in time long enough to look at them before letting them go. \nDennis first arrived in Provincetown over 60 years ago and\, since then\, has worked for the Cape Cod National Seashore\, the Center for Coastal Studies\, the Dolphin Fleet Whale Watch\, and Art’s Dune Tours. He has served as chair of the Provincetown Conservation Commission and the Open Space Committee and a handful of other town committees. He has been writing the Year-Rounder column in The Provincetown Independent since its very first issue\, and has also broadcast his work in The Cape Cod Notebook on WCAI.
