DESCRIPTION:Please join us on Sunday\, July 12\, as we prepare for the Unitarian Universalist Association’s Day of Awareness in support of immigrants held in detention facilities. \n\n\n \nOn Monday\, July 13\, UUA congregations across the country will draw attention to the harsh conditions many immigrants face\, including overcrowding\, inadequate sanitation\, limited medical care\, and restricted access to family members and legal assistance. \n\n\n \nFollowing our discussion and update\, we invite all who wish to participate to stay and help create a visible symbol of compassion and solidarity. Together\, we’ll connect more than 800 feet of colorful ribbons to adorn the iron railings outside the Chapel as part of the UUA’s Day of Awareness. \n\n\n \nWe hope you’ll join us in this simple yet meaningful act of witness and support. \n\n\n \nLearn more at 10 a.m. on Sunday\, July 12\, 2026. SUMMARY:Deeply Rooted: Local Food & Community
DESCRIPTION:Join us as Francie Randolph discusses the work of Sustainable CAPE\, a Truro-based nonprofit that celebrates local food while educating and empowering individuals to create a more delicious\, healthy and sustainable world. From its beginnings in a volunteer-run agricultural fair to its present\, Sustainable CAPE seeks to demonstrate the direct link between local food\, sustainable health and wellness\, and the importance of preserving the fragile land and water resources that directly enable our local harvest. Among its many programs and events are Children’s Gardens\, Farmer’s Markets\, Food Access and Food is Medicine. \nFounding Director of Sustainable CAPE\, Francie Randolph\, Ed.M.\, is an award-winning visual artist whose nature-based work has been published & exhibited internationally. After living in Papua New Guinea and Australia\, she taught in Harvard’s Visual and Environmental Studies Department for 7 years\, winning numerous Teaching Awards. In 2009\, she and two farming friends co-founded the Truro Agricultural Fair; shortly thereafter she founded the non-profit Sustainable CAPE. Randolph now works toward creating a Deeply Rooted Food System\, combining her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Harvard with cross-disciplinary passions for art\, food\, health\, the environment\, education & food equity. She lives surrounded by gardens on an historic farm in Truro with her artist husband\, 2 children\, 1 cat\, a dozen hens and countless honeybees. \n\n\n\nLearn more at 10 a.m. on Sunday\, July 19\, 2026. SUMMARY:Angels in Human Skin
DESCRIPTION:“Angels in Human Skin: A Family’s Journey through World War II” tells the story of a Polish holocaust survivor and a Nazi labor slave deported from the Netherlands thrown together in the middle of war’s turmoil. In the context of death\, depravity\, and desperation\, differences disappeared\, and a friendship was fostered between a Jewess hiding in the open and her captive friend plucked from his country at gunpoint. The intention of this project is to bear witness to the dead and the living so that we might awaken to the power of our own choice making today. \n\n\n\nDirkje Legerstee is a Retired UCC minister who served local churches in Massachusetts for decades\, and now worships with the world. She is active at the COA\, FCEN\, the Eastham Historical Society\, and Nauset Newcomers. She enjoys InterPlay\, sailing\, and making art.
