American singer, musician, actor, and cultural icon. Performed rock and roll, rockabilly, blues, gospel, ballads, and pop. Known as "King of Rock and Roll," or just "The King." Made 31 movies. Died of health problems and drug dependency at 42.

Music: "Hound Dog" is a twelve-bar blues written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller and originally recorded by Willie Mae "Big Mama" Thornton in 1952. Presley first performed "Hound Dog" to a nation wide television audience on The Milton Berle Show on June 5, 1956. Controversey erupted the next day and critics began using the nickname "Elvis the Pelvis".
