Georges Bizet 1838-1875
A child prodigy, Bizet's first success came with the opera Les pecheurs de perles in 1863. The next was Carmen in 1875, which shocked the critics. He died before it became a hit.
"As a musician I tell you that if you were to suppress adultery, fanaticism, crime, evil, and the supernatural, there would no longer be the means for writing one note."
